The Kirby C.C. Trophy

Awarded at the discretion of the Committee, this trophy is for the most courageous and meritorious ride of the season.

Height 9.5”. Width 8”. A wooden shield having a silver shield at its centre with a raised inset bearing a badge of a cyclist and the lettering “ For Courage. Presented by Kirby C.C.”. Small individual shields around the edge bear names of winners and dates. A hinged stand is attached to the back of the shield.

 

 

The John Mortimer clubmans trophy

 

The John Mortimer Trophy

Awarded annually to the member who is considered by the Committee to have contributed most to the life of the Club.

1996 Made by Les Howe, a former Club member who made an identical trophy for Barrow Central Wheelers.

Height 10”. Plaque 8” high, 7” diameter. Plinth 2” high, 8” wide. A circular wooden plaque, bearing a brass disc having the name of the award ‘Ferryhill Wheelers. John Mortimer Memorial Trophy’ cut out around the circumference. The interior of the disc is a pierced intricate design and on the centre of the plaque is mounted a brass shield on two crossed bars and with a lion in relief. The wooden plinth carries a brass plate inscribed with ‘Clubman Award’ and dates and names of winners.

Presented to the Club by Fred Simpson in 2002.

 

Awarded to the rider gaining the highest number of points in the North East Cyclo Cross League.

The Rothman’s Shield

Awarded to the veteran with the best time on Standard in any 10 miles Time Trial.

Height 14.5”. Width 11.5”. A wooden shield with a silver scroll at the top inscribed ‘Rothman’s Shield’. In the centre a silver crested shield engraved ‘Ferryhill Wheelers C.C. Best on Standard, Veterans 10’. Inset badge depicts a racing cyclist on a silver background. Individual shields around the edge record the winners’ names and dates. A hinged stand is attached to the back of the shield.
